Software Licence for a User

We are just coming to use GLPI as illness and problems forced us to shelve much work this last year. I have taken the opportunity to install the latest stable version 0.441s - 5415200.

We are trying to track licence usage. We have a 30 user licence for a product, in some staff have it installed on a laptop we provide so that is no problem, we can list that. However some staff use their own laptop and I can't find a way of recording this usage against the total license count. Is there a way to do this?

Re: Software Licence for a User

I'm guessing that this is not possible?

Re: Software Licence for a User

I'm assuming this is a laptop you don't have in glpi yet?

The way I handle that is for networked laptops they are pulled in via OCS to Glpi automatically, Then I just assign 1 copy of the software to the laptop.
For nonnetworked laptops, I simply add a new laptop entry manually, and assign the software to that.
Kinda sorta what you mean?

Re: Software Licence for a User

Thanks for responding. Not quite. The software is virus software, in general most of the users are using laptops supplied by us and these appear on GLPI as computers. However there are some associates staff, they have their own equipment. In order to be able to be sure that they are up to date we supply them with a license and the virus software to use.

Re: Software Licence for a User

Ahh, yeah I would just create a generic pc for them and a user and assign accordingly. There is no way to just assign software to a user that I am aware of(though this would be a cool function i think)

Re: Software Licence for a User

I guess so. I will see if there is somewhere we could add the request. Thanks for trying to help.
