How to import selected data to Inventory from Excel or CSV file

Is there a way to import selected fields of data from an Excel or CSV file?

I still haven't got the time to install and setup OCSInvenroty and all our inventory files are on Excel.

A little step by step "How to" will be  much appreciated.

Thank you

Re: How to import selected data to Inventory from Excel or CSV file

sure it works in 0.80, try the "trunk" version
take it here, and test it : https://forge.indepnet.net/tarballs-plugins/

Re: How to import selected data to Inventory from Excel or CSV file

its qiet easy:

open Installation / Plugins and install the file injection Plugin

THan goto Plugins -> File Injection
->Model management
-> add Model : +
-> select a name
-> select a entity
->choose Type of datas you want to import e.g. Computer / application or SIM Cards
if you want to add new items
-> Allow lines creation = yes
-> allow lines update = yes

and so on.

than you choos csv as format

than add/ ok

Re: How to import selected data to Inventory from Excel or CSV file

after this switch to the new model:
Plugins->Fileinjection -> Model
change from the "Standard" view to the "file to inject" view
here you upload the examplefile for your Import with all lines and fieldnames

Re: How to import selected data to Inventory from Excel or CSV file

You have to change back to the "Standard View and choos the seperator "File delimitor" (i have to change vorm ";"  to "," if i use an excel generated csv)
Now switch to the "Mapping View" and you get your fieldnames wich you can map to GLPI-Tables and Fields
for examlpe:

Header of the field: Com_name   ->  (i choos in table dropdown)  Computer  -> and match it to the Field "Name"
Header of the field: Serialnumber -> Computer -> Serialnumber (autoselected) quite ineligent this tool ;-)
and so on
than submit

Re: How to import selected data to Inventory from Excel or CSV file

in general i dont need the additional Information, you can test it, its useful if you have to use it.
Than you need the verification.
i did not realised what this part is usful, but i think others knows better  big_smile i am only a stupid user

Now choos plugins -> File Injection -> choos your injection Model (Dropdown Existing Model)

Upload your File
and follow the Dialog

Re: How to import selected data to Inventory from Excel or CSV file

In general the file to upload is to define after the submission of the Base informations.
the problem you describe i have never seen.

Re: How to import selected data to Inventory from Excel or CSV file

I think my plugin is broke.......

I can access and open the model management but the form only goes as far as "Type of datas to import :" line.  There are no more lines after that.  so i dont have anything to choose and theres no submit button as well.

Is this a problem of GLPI or the plugin?

Re: How to import selected data to Inventory from Excel or CSV file

To wawa,

I was replying to Laura090, asking for the difference with the new upgrade.  I wasn't able to make the plugin work under 0.80.1.  After upgrading to 0.80.2 the plugin just worked.
So, my setup is now working fine.

To Laura090,

Let me know if you need help..

Thanks
