Email setup not working

Hello All,

My name is Kayode and I am new to GPLI.

I installed GLPI version 9.1

I have setup the receivers and tested successfully, but when i try and create an email followup configuration, the "send a test email to the Administrator" fails.

I have setup the email followup config as follows;

Enable followup via email : Yes
   
Administrator email: smilecontract.ng@smilecoms.com              

Administrator name   
Administrator reply-to email (if needed) :      smilecontract.ng@smilecoms.com
Response name (if needed)   
Add documents into ticket notifications    :No
   
Email signature   
Mail server
Way of sending emails   
SMTP+TLS
Check certificate    : NO

SMTP host    smtp.gmail.com      Port: 587
SMTP login (optional): smilecontract.ng@smilecoms.com    SMTP password (optional): xxxxxxx

I have no problem with gmail.  activate debug and check your configuration / password again.

Hi Olukayode

I think that cannot use a smtp server of gmail to send emails with domain smilecoms.com.

Have you try to send emails with smilecoms.com smtp domain ?

Hi bca67,

Thank you for your prompt response.

Actually, we have an an SMTP server named as email.smilecoms.com connecting through port 25, but we usually configure our staff's emails with smtp.gmail.com for out going emails and pop.gmail.com for incoming emails.

I have also set the receiver's emails on glpi with the pop.gmail.com and this worked.

I really do not know what I am missing.

The glpi is installed on an Ubuntu server and i can connect to smtp.gmail.com through port 587 from the cli...

I tested also with 587 on my normal gmail account (not business with own domain) this works also.

Can you give us your logs ?
[glpiroot]/files/log/mail_error.log or something like this. (I don't have the error log wink)

my testsytem is glpi 9.1.4 also on ubuntu (16.10)

Hello All,

Thank you so much for your contributions, I finally found out why the test was failing;

I changed the Administrator name from glpi to the same email i.e smilecontract.ng@smilecoms.com and it worked.

However, I still have another issue with notifications I created for the contract reminders.

No notifications is going out.

Can any one advise on the requirements for setting up email Alarms/Notification for contracts.
